Challenge
Creating the music video for Marv OTM's "Big 45" presented several significant challenges, particularly in capturing the authentic and gritty realism integral to the drill rap genre. One major hurdle was location scouting and security. Finding urban locations that reflect the streetwise nature of drill rap often involves logistical and safety concerns.
To address this, the production team had to conduct extensive scouting to identify sites that offered the desired aesthetic while ensuring the safety of the crew and equipment. Coordination with local authorities and hiring security personnel were essential steps to secure these areas during filming. Additionally, achieving the right lighting to maintain the video's intense atmosphere, especially in variable outdoor conditions, required portable lighting equipment and experienced cinematographers who could adapt to changing light and ensure visual consistency.
Goal
The goal of creating the music video for Marv OTM's "Big 45" was to authentically capture the raw energy and gritty realism inherent to the drill rap genre. This involved selecting urban settings that reflect the streetwise nature of the music while ensuring the safety and logistical feasibility of filming in such locations. The production team aimed to use lighting and cinematography to create a moody, intense atmosphere that complements the song's themes.
